HURRICANE HARVEY RECOVERY  MOBILE INTAKE CENTER OPENING IN SHEPHERD ON 12/10/18

***UPDATE***

Is your home still damaged by Harvey?

On Monday, December 10, 2018 the General Land Office will open a mobile intake center in Shepherd to help homeowners who still need assistance with Harvey-damaged homes.

GLO representatives will be taking applications in Shepherd every Monday at the Shepherd Public Library between 9am-4pm. (30 N. Liberty, Shepherd, TX  77371)

Bottom line: If you are a homeowner that was affected by Hurricane Harvey you may qualify for assistance through the Homeowner Assistance Program.

This program helps qualified homeowners in Texas repair, rehabilitate, or rebuild homes damaged by the disaster.

*Applications will be considered for award on a first-come, first-serve basis.*

Potential applicants should visit the Texas General Land Office website and review the Homeowner Assistance Program Checklist to have all applicable documents ready before applying. Don’t wait. Interested homeowners can visit http://recovery.texas.gov/individuals/programs/homeowner-assistance/east-texas/index.html to apply online now or to download a printable version of the application to get started.

We are bracing for a severe rain event for the next 30 hours, According to the State, roads that have flooded in the past has a great potential to flood during this event.

We are currently under a flash flood watch, and are expecting 2-5" of rain with isolated amounts of 8-10".

It is going to rain and at times be heavy.  Street flooding is likely and as the runoff piles up, creek/bayou/river flooding is likely to happen.

We are currently experiencing some rains, which will continue through the day, through the night into early morning.

Please stay tuned to local T.V. and radio stations for more up to date information on severe weather, flooding and road closures.
